Kyle, or "Coach" as everyone called him, was the only child of Mitch and Anne Marie (Day) Lawson. He married Heather Gonzaga, and the couple had two children, Rory and Riley.

He is survived by his wife, Heather, son Rory, son-in-law, Remington, and granddaughter, Gwyn. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Riley, and her unborn child.
