A woman after his own heart, Melissa is a female version of Don. The two are now full-time lovers and he visits Melissa whenever home life - or his other girlfriends and children - become to much for him to bear. He's aware of her own trysts, but has no problem with them. Melissa knows about Don's many women, and kids, and is perfectly fine with it. She may be the only woman Don has ever truly loved.

The couple now have two young children together.

When Don and Melissa's oldest, Drusilla, reached childhood she became friends with a troubled, young girl at her school. When young Starla Mendoza's mother ran off and abandoned her, Melissa took the girl in and raised her as one of her own rather than let her be taken away by the social workers.
