Pleasant Family History

The Pleasant family actually began long ago with Kynda and Les Pleasant of Pleasantview. Little history is known about the original Pleasants, but their story resumed with reluctant family man, Daniel Pleasant, his wife, Mary-Sue Oldie, and their twin daughters, Angela and Lilith.

Daniel and Mary-Sue like to joke that they rue the day they were "blessed" with red-headed and hot-tempered twin girls. As different as night and day, Angela and Lilith didn't get along even as babies. Putting them together on the floor or close together on a bed, one was sure to be kicking at the other. As they grew, so did their disdain for each other.

Working through their own marital problems (mainly Daniel's roving eye and penchant for female maids) left little time to referee the twins' fights and the girls fought every day. When they became adults their parents, eager to finally have some peace and quiet in the house, struck a deal with their daughters. In exchange for a posh beach-style home fully paid for by their parents, the two had to move out and in together. The girls accepted - agreeing to make the best of it.

Angela Pleasant, eager to be away from home and her sister, spent many of her afterschool days at her best friend, Dustin Broke's, house. Not long after moving into their new home, Dustin bought a small place directly across the street. After many years of close companionship as teenagers, as adults Dustin and Angela opened up about their true feelings for one another and began to date. Dustin, a rough and tumble teen now trying to make a place for himself in wicked politics, appreciated the calm goodness that was Angela. She had helped him with his schoolwork and chided him when he got into trouble for sneaking out. As an adult she was still fussing over him, giving him the motherly love he never really experienced from his own mother. Dustin knew Angela, with her sweet and devoted ways, was the kind of woman he wanted to marry.

A few weeks after their initial expression of true feelings, Dustin invited Lilith over for dinner. His plans were to question his love's twin on what kind of engagement ring he should buy. Dustin had never really known Lilith while they were growing up, and knew only the things Angela had told him about her - none very nice. He was surprised to find her intelligent, witty and incredibly sexy. She looked just like Angela but where Angela was good and pure, Lilith was wild and wicked - like Dustin himself. He felt an immediate attraction to this woman that could keep up with him and the night ended with them in bed.

Confused now as to what to do, Dustin continued seeing both women. Lilith didn't seem to care one way or the other, but he knew Angela would be heartbroken if she found out. He held off on proposing to Angela, now unsure which woman he really wanted. During this time, Angela became pregnant and gave birth to a son, Dillon. She felt that, surely, Dustin would propose to her now, but he never did.

It was a year later that Lilith realized she was pregnant. Positive the baby was for Dustin she went and asked how long he felt they could continue their charade. Dustin was scared and asked her to keep quiet and she begrudingly relented. Six months after baby Elena was born, Angela came home early from work to find Dustin and Lilith in bed together. Tired of the lies, and tired of Dustin, Lilith had planned the entire thing. She didn't feel as guilty with Angela angry at her and she quietly packed her things and moved away with Elena. The twins have not spoken since.

Lilith refused to speak with Dustin after the incident, as did Angela. But not wanting to keep him away from Dillon, Angela began to let him come around again. The two have a polite friendship, but Dustin is working hard to win back her affection.

Lilith had told her that Elena was for an ex co-worker she'd had a one night stand with, but Angela began to wonder if Elena was Dustin's. Dustin insisted she was not when asked and she won't speak to her sister even to ask that. She sees pictures of Elena, now a child, at her parents' home when she goes to visit and there is no denying the resemblance to Dillon; the two look like siblings. Mary-Sue and Daniel don't talk to Angela about Lilith or Elena, and they never bring up Angela and Dillon to Lilith. The two appear to have forgotten the others' existence.

Daniel, in his old age, has stopped chasing the maids and he and Mary-Sue are happily married and happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Though both daughters and both grandchildren were in attendance, it was not without conflicts. Angela and Lilith slapped each in the face every time their paths crossed. Unfortunately, the rifts that have driven their small family in two seem too deep a chasm to be crossed.

Soon after, Angela moved back in with her aging and ailing parents to help them out. Mary-Sue and Daniel had originally tried to ask Lilith, knowing she was living in a trailer in a bad part of town, but she refused. Dillon went off to college, only to return a few months later with a fiancee whom he promptly married. Angela, not getting any younger, is talking with Dustin again and wondering if she should give him another chance.
