Mayor Wilson Landry The current Acadia mayor is Wilson Landry, son of the late politician Gene Landry and local author, Augusta Mae (neé Bordelon) Landry. Graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Masters in Political Science, Wilson has dreamt of being Acadia's mayor since a young age. He always ran - and won - for school president, and was Valedictorian of his graduating class at the University of Acadia. After college, Wilson met and married the lovely Nancy Fontenot, daughter of Norman and Judith (neé Champagne) Fontenot. The two have five children: Wilson Jr., Kathleen, Mitchell, twins Terri and Sheryl and one grandchild, Hunter Landry - daughter of Will Jr. and Stephanie (neé Dugas) Landry. Along with his duties as Mayor, Mr. Landry is busy planning the huge wedding of his daughter, Kathleen, to Terry Aguillard, getting Mitch settled in college at University of Acadia, and preparing twins, Terri & Sheryl, for their first high school prom. "Without Nancy by my side," he tells us, "I couldn't handle any of it. She centers and grounds me; she's my entire world." With statements such as that, it's easy to see why Acadia loves Mayor Landry so much. |
